Community Celebration: World Breastfeeding Week at Highland Park Hospital

World Breastfeed Week is an annual global celebration held the first week of August to celebrate the people and policies that help birthing parents to breastfeed. This year’s theme was Closing the Gap. There is a gap between polices and implementation for breastfeeding support. The focus this year was to encourage community members to work together to close the breastfeeding support gaps with an emphasis on breastfeeding in times of emergencies and crises.

The Highland Park FEEDS team held our second annual celebration of World Breastfeeding! FEEDS participants and their families receiving BPC care at Highland Park Hospital gathered for a luncheon celebration that included networking, vendors, and games. Breastfeeding Peer Counselor Dezzy Mojica hosted the event and recognized participants and their partners for their infant feeding accomplishments. The wellness event included informational booths hosted by Endeavor’s own pelvic floor therapists and lactation consultants. Thanks to lovely donations from community organizations, we were able to raffle off a spa gift certificate, Trader Joe’s grocery bag, an electric breast pump, and Target gift cards! Check out the event with pictures below and join us next year to celebration World Breastfeeding.
