FEEDS Study at The University of Chicago
The FEEDS study is expanding to The University of Chicago
The FEEDS team was awarded a $795,000 supplement to expand the study to a third site at The University of Chicago (UofC). We will hire a full time Peer Counselor at the Duchossois Center for Advanced Medicine (DCAM) obstetric clinic to deliver breastfeeding counseling and hands on support during prenatal, delivery admission and postpartum care for the next 3 years, adding 240 participants and testing the implementation of clinically-integrated Breastfeeding Peer Counseling at the UofC University of Chicago Medicine Medical Center.
The Supplement also includes analysis of patient-centered economic outcomes, which are important considerations for families when deciding whether to breastfeed their infants. We aim to begin recruitment at UofC by May 2024.
